About
Who We Are
Dabney Bowen, Master Naturalist & Wildlife Conservationist
Dabney Bowen has always enjoyed a love affair with nature. As a child growing up in rural Maryland, she spent much of her free time exploring the flora and fauna that occupied the woods and streams near her home. As a young woman she became actively involved in conservation efforts through many non-profit advocacy groups in Maryland and Massachusetts, while pursuing a career in Brownfields redevelopment.
In 2000, Dabney moved to Fairfield County and instantly fell in love with the bucolic landscape, diverse geography, and broad range of biodiversity that characterizes coastal New England. After several years of volunteering with several local conservation organizations, she identified a need to educate locals about the diverse community of animals, reptiles and insects living in their backyards, and to inform the public about the ecological benefits of protecting their wild neighbors. In 2019, she established Call of the Wild to educate and advocate on behalf of Connecticut’s essential wildlife.
